We never shall have any more time. We
have, and we have always had, all the time
there is.

Well, you have to work out what it is. They are a little splinter. They can't summon many voters at any given time. They are a minority of a minority of a minority. They have everybody buffaloed because the great corporations like them and pay money to their candidates for sheriff and senator. And they're playing big-time politics. Yes, indeed. But the average person doesn't like them. You know, any time I want to get applause — and I lecture across America in state after state after state — when I fear things are getting a little low, I always say, And another thing: Let us tax all the religions,” I bring down the goddamn house with that. And any politician would if he had sense enough to do it. The people don't like their tax exemption.
What's the point in wasting a perfectly good brick wall when you have someone to throw against it, that's what I always say.
I would say the time has not yet come. I rebel against the present, whenever it is, because I have not seen any change, other than oppositions grow stronger.
So what I would like to recommend is – if we are going to have continued dialogue – we will work out the wall. They are going to say, who is going to pay for the wall, Mr. President?” to both of us, and we should both say, we will work it out.” It will work out in the formula somehow. As opposed to you saying, we will not pay” and me saying, we will not pay.”
The best effect of fine persons is felt after we have left their presence.
If most of us were wind up-toys, could we trust the few of us that weren't to wind us up when necessary? I think not. We would be a separate oppressed minority. Even if we were in the majority, it would still be that way. The ones that weren't wind-up toys would have the upper hand, and we would have to look out for each other, because they wouldn't.
My grandfather had a saying he used to say to me when I was a kid… "always remember that I'm always for you, but I'd rather be for you when you're right than when you're wrong." Well, that's the way I feel about America. There's no use trying to say we haven't done a lot of things that were bad. We have.
